In the Netherlands, on Dec. 6th, all the children put their shoes out for the wandering Sinterklaus and his helper who are coming to put goodies in their shoes. If you are good, there are some candies and maybe a small toy; but if you are bad there are sticks!!
So, today we got out our boots and Lulu inspected them. We are going to put them on and go out into the field to look for a small Christmas tree.
Lulu wonders where the food is in the boot!
We got our boots on and headed out into the field. Lulu had a grand time jumping through the long grass and getting stuck in blackberry vines.
We found a tree, a volunteer hidden under the big pines. How does the short needle tree find its ways there? But the grand daughter is a great cutter and we soon had it sawed off.
Look at her! She took it up and carried it up to the house! (with Lulu’s help , of course).
Home at last, and isn’t that some tree? Lulu likes it even though it looks more like a tree for Charlie Brown. Well, as Charlie says, “Christmas time is here” so we will just turn the flat side to the wall and it will be wonderful—all ours. It made a lovely afternoon.
I had soooo much fun! Thanks for having me over Grandma!!
